Lightweight protection from an accidental hit with the chainsaw. I wouldn't cut without these. I've seen the horrific wounds a running chainsaw can inflict. Your amateur buddies might chuckle, but they can learn the hard way. I witnessed a demonstration of these in action. It actually works by jamming the saw blade and stopping the saw before it can cut through the material. The guy had a small bruise, but no injury. Pretty amazing.Easy to put on and they fit over a wide variety of clothing. I like the apron style for ease of removal during breaks. Not terribly hot in the summer. Pocket is a nice touch for minor accessories. You'll probably use a pouch for your wedges,mallet,and blade tool. But pockets are always nice. Cleanup is easy with spray foam carpet cleaner and a rag. I don't machine wash them for fear of reducing their effectiveness. Buy these before you need them. Way cheaper than your emergency room deductible.

I have been doing a lot of chainsaw work post Hurricane Michael, after grazing my leg for the second time with a barely moving chain (lost one pair of pants and some skin twice) I decided the silly looking pants the pros wear must be more than just the overzealous corporate safety push it appeared. I fully expected the chaps to be restrictive and very hot, neither was true as a matter of fact I have been leaving them on even when not planning to use the saw again immediately. In addition to chain protection the chaps provide protection when dragging limbs or kneeling on sticks.

I have livestock and I purchased these to help protect my legs from little hooves. However, I was hoping that since I am female that since the item was made for a man that the legs would wrap all the way around or at least more than they do. I purchased a pair of shin guards and put them on backwards to give more protection to the lower backs of my legs. Even the full wrap chaps don't cover the whole back of the leg, only the lower portion. I may have to purchase a second pair and wear them backwards over this pair. I do find the buckles to not be easy to fasten in the back. I would have preferred for them to wrap around to the front. They seem fine for their designed purpose but I never intended to use them with a chain saw. They do protect the front of my legs from little hooves, but I still need the back of my legs protected aslo.

I've used these chaps extensively for about a year. The belt buckle has always been a problem. There's no way to tighten it enough for it to stay up. Needless to say, cutting down trees with your chaps falling down is not a good idea. The second issue is that I've only made one mistake with the chainsaw. It just barely nicked the top of my left leg and went straight through the chaps material ripping my jeans. There may have been just enough protection to prevent an injury, but it does not instill confidence to have the material rip like paper the only time it's been put to the test. I am currently searching for a safer, more convenient alternative to this product.

I have been using these for 3 1/2 years and not needed their protection from the saw, however they have protected me from jabs from sticks and other debris in the woods. My dissatisfaction is with the retention of the nylon belt webbing in the adjustable buckle. Clearing trails and cutting firewood in the woods I have to re-cinch the belt 2 or three times per hour. This is time consuming because the buckle is behind me. It is particularly inconvenient when cutting in the cold, requiring me to remove my coat. Plan on a new buckle, stitching Velcro to the webbing or some other intervention with these.

Hope to never NEED these. They seem like a nice pair of chaps BUT the pocket design is the worst I've ever seen. These are for frontal protection only. The pocket is pretty useless, the flap is sewn down as to keep debris AND YOUR HAND OUT OF IT. I am adding pictures to explain. The pocket is also a solid pouch on the bottom which is good for small things not being lost, but bad for collecting wood chips. The pocket after being sewn down makes it fairly useless, especially if you wear gloves. A velcro flap or a snap would make these great chaps, but china cheaped out on this. The same for the bottom of the pocket, putting a snap or better yet a velcro flap on the bottom also so chips could be cleaned out easily would make these great. Having a large pocket is good, not being able to use it, bad.

Ordered the orange chainsaw chaps, and generally like them. Material is good, the 37" length fit well, and they should do the job, Taking two stars off for the cheap plastic clips for the 4 leg straps. They won't hold the adjustment because the teeth are tiny plastic things that won't grab the strap material. The type with the moveable tooth bar that grips the strap would be much better, and wouldn't cost the manufacturer very much. They are OK for occasional homeowner use, but professionals that have to wear these often can get a better pair of chainsaw chaps elsewhere.

These chaps are quite comfortable and protect from chains as well as protecting from bramble.I have had the opportunity to test them out several times and not one cut has gotten through!I like the buckle system and they are a breeze to put on and take off.As you can see in the picture, they have stopped multiple oopses and survived an exploding can of expanding foam.I'm going to buy another pair as I'm running out of thigh space to cut into.

This is a very good product, good design, nice protection. Having said that, I'd recommend suspenders because the chaps are not light and, as some others have mentioned, the belt needs to be overtightened at times. I found this the case cutting firewood with a chainsaw...there are times when one needs to kneel, bend, etc. The chaps will lose their position. I think the manufacturer should consider selling matching suspenders...that way the chaps do not have to be overtightened, which is uncomfortable, and the chaps fit comfortably. I bought matching suspenders (Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VPS6WNC?). The suspenders have very good clamps [clamp to the belt, rear and front).

I was not disappointed in this purchase. These are a great value and check off all the correct boxes.One simple question if you do not think you need these. How much are your legs and life worth? Chain saw chaps are an investment in your life. WEAR THEM EVERY TIME. These chaps replaced a pair that gave their life for mine. I am not a rookie but definitely not a pro. Accidents happen and chain saw chaps are your protection. BUY THESE and wear them!

I bought these to wear while chainsawing. and ended up also wearing them when I cut field grass with the weedwhacker (kept me from getting shin bruises from kicked up rocks). I easily wore them for 2-3 hours at a time during the summer heat with no problems. so I feel I got my moneys worth. I have not had the chance to actually have a chainsaw kickback into me so I cannot vouch for how well they would stop a running chain, but they feel like they offer more protection than a pair of cargo pants at any rate

Decent chaps for the price. Definitely worth it for the extra protection. I have had previous chaps save my leg. I'm 5'8 and ordered the regular size. Probably should have gone to a smaller size as a female but these will do so multiple people can use them. These do fit like a guys pair of pants. I wish there was a but more kevlar on the high thigh area. The photo on the front of the package differs from the actual chap look. They aren't very heavy which is great. Overall happy with the purchase.

With age, I don't catch myself as quickly as I used to. When holding a chain saw on uneven ground with a saw, running or not, I was taking an increasing chance. Decided it was long past time to get chaps. Embarrassingly, I've not used chaps in almost 50 years since I was a young firefighter.I've used them a couple of weeks now. They wear comfortably, easy to hook on, flexible when moving or kneeling. Overall, a very good purchase. Especially last week I was talking to a friend and he pointed to a tear on his jeans. Nicked by his saw. He said he stared at it waiting for the blood to start but he totally lucked out. I got the 36 inch length and they came down to lower calf on me. A good length (I'm a 38" inseam).

I bought these in May 2106. These chaps saved my thigh from a bunch of stiches YESTERDAY! I'm buying another pair TODAY! I'm 6' 200lb and the large fit fine. Like others have said, the buckle on the waist belt slips a little, so I give them a 4 instead of 5 stars. I run the waist strap under my pants suspenders and they stay up fine.
