This Japanese santoku refers to the three advantages, and can handle three foods. The Asian all-purpose knife is especially good for chopping garlic, slicing cucumbers and chopping onions. The blade has a small hole known as grantons, which is also known as grantons to prevent food from sticking when cutting. High quality German stainless steel has been strengthened and the knife is made in Spain. I never pay attention to infomercials, so really knew nothing about Santoku knives until a recent visit to my cousin where I offered to prepare dinner one night and introduced myself accidentally to her Santoku knife. After a few minutes chopping vegetables with it, I fell in love and as soon as I got home, I ordered one for myself. I love it.

It was a present, but I have one nearly the same. Holds edge moderately long; easy to sharpen with carborundum two sided stone. It should last a lifetime for the home cook.

I returned the first knife due to burs on the blade. The replacement was almost as bad. It was not as sharp as a cheap knife that is 15 years old.

I spent a weekend helping my goddaughter paint her new townhouse. I made her a pot of chili and used her 7” hollow edge Santoku Knife. It was the most amazing thing!! I had to get my self one also. Look forward to cutting away.
